Farm Gazette - Summer Edition
Summer at the farm brings an abundance of fruits and the making of preserves. As of now we only grow a small part of what we use in our preserves, the rest is bought from local small farmers. We don't use pre-packaged pulp or other canned mix, all our preserves are made with fresh fruits right here at the farm.
To the fruits we just add certified organic evaporated cane juice, that's all. NO pectin, citric acid or ascorbic acid ... simple and natural.
The old fashioned way of making preserves and our jars are packed with fruits.
We started the season with Strawberry and thanks to our friends at Dragonfly Farm, our preserve was made with fresh strawberries not fumigated with methyl bromide, a rare find in the area, they were grown in dirt for good taste and the result was a premium preserve. We only have a few jars lelt.

Next was Blueberry. They grow very well in this part of Florida and for a few weeks everything was in shades of blue. Our blueberry preserve is already a classic and this year crop was delicious.
July brings Fig, we grow some at the farm but not enough for our preserves, so we pick and buy from neighbors. Our fig preserve is a hit and a favorite with cheese. We picked a lot but this is a preserve that usually is out of stock before the next season ...
Last week we got peaches, another premium and delicious fruit. Just the smell and the color of ripe peaches is a feast for the senses. The preserve is in the making and the first few jars are ready to go ...
You can buy our preserves online at www.twinoaksfarm.net. We ship USPS flat rate : you buy 2 or 7 jars it is the same rate : take advantage of it ... or if you are in the area you can visit us at one of the farmer's market, we always have sample of each of them.
Enjoy your summer and remember to buy local fresh produces.
